The SMILE project final conference will be held in a hybrid mode (in person/online) on 27 June 2024 at the Hamburg University of Technology.

SMILE project aims to foster systemic institutional change and the capacities of regional innovation ecosystems towards innovation and entrepreneurship in smart manufacturing. The SMILE focus areas are innovation orientation, mutual learning and open entrepreneurship.
At the SMILE conference, we will focus on the different aspects around fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in smart manufacturing, such as hands-on intra- and entrepreneurial practices enabling companies to find innovative solutions to today’s manufacturing challenges, mutual learning at the heart of the sustainable collaboration between and within innovation ecosystems and actors, centred around the university (ecosystem nucleus) and enhancing the mindset of manufacturers and students as future entrepreneurial thinkers and real-word problem solvers. The conference offers a combination of presentations, interviews and panels on the burning issues of innovation and entrepreneurship in smart manufacturing, bringing together companies, innovation enablers, innovation ecosystem actors, universities and students.

This session explores the role and the outcome of collaboration among diverse members across various ecosystems. The session will also discuss key insights from different interviewees, facilitating the transfer of knowledge between members, exploiting different solutions that can be adopted and transferred in different settings, as well as showcasing real-world case studies. Moreover, the session will discuss the needs and aims
to foster mutual cooperation, breaking the working format of silos across different ecosystems, and hence accelerating innovation. Finally, we will delve into the role of digital transformation and emerging technologies in enhancing collaboration and boosting innovation. their experience with alumni networks. We will dive into the potential of alumni networks to inspire the next generation of smart manufacturing entrepreneurs. Targeting students and alumni with the dream to create a startup, it explores how these networks can help create innovation. Attendees will understand how alumni networks work, how to connect with like-minded individuals, and how these networks can be used to address industry challenges with creative problem-solving techniques, so that their entrepreneurial vision can come into reality.
