On September 19th at Milano Politechnico (POLIMI) the SMILE workshop has been held in preparation to Smart Manufacturing Hackathon. Participants made final check that all preparatory measures have succeeded and now we are accelerating towards the culmination of the SMILE project. In October, the jury will select the hackathon challenges among those proposed by partnering companies and challenges video presentations will be posted on the dedicated pages.

In November the student teams will be registered through the dedicated form. Each team will be assigned one of the challenge of their choice. Participants will have access to the Digital Learning Lab and Nuggets to start working with their team on the challenge they have been assigned.

During the Hackathon, 27-30 November 2023 the teams will finalize their challenge solution with help of companies and mentors from SMILE Consortium. Video pitches of a maximum of 7 minutes duration which describe the solution to a chosen challenge will be evaluated by the SMILE Committee. In mid December 2023 winning team will be officially announced. Partnering companies are expected to offer internship opportunities and SMILE consortium will issue certificates of achievement.

The Hackathon will not just solve a few practical problems of Industry 4.0 companies, but will enact the instruments developed in the SMILE project, supported by the European Institute of Technology, will show the efficacy of the coordinated efforts in the research-education-business triangle. Researchers, students, forward-thinking innovators and industry professionals will combine their intelligence, skills, creativity and passion to foster innovations in the smart manufacturing sector.
